It has been a dream of ours for many year to build a low balance course at the bottom of our back play space. This year we made it happen! Our Playcentre whānau worked hard over multiple weekends, and many Manawatu businesses generously donated time and supplies to help us achieve our dream at very low cost.
Needless to say, our new balance course has become a favorite destination for our tamariki to play, explore and learn together. Ngā mihi nui to the following businesses for their donations towards this project: Mag n Turbo = Tyres MTR= Tractor tyres Tree trim and Earthworks= Strops and Tools Alf Downs Contracting= Power Poles McPhersons = Base Course Fill The Landscape Supply Yard = Bark ARC UPcycle Depot = Wood

We're now enjoying a new, easy access way the slope. We are so thankful to have our roof replaced, pitch improved over the lean-to and a new veranda shelter over the back end of our building! It was a massive project to organise, and couldn't have been done without the generous donations from Pub Charity, Mainland Foundation and Playcentre Aoteraroa, thank you!!Have you attended Terrace End Playcentre in the past? Have you wondered what we're all about? Come and join us for a fun filled day celebrating the history and heart of Terrace End Playcentre!
After many years of having sub-standard fencing, requiring us to take 'excursions' down to our fabulous, wild, wilderness area out the back, we now have a beautiful new fence! We were most privileged to have Wiremu Te Awe Awe come to bless our land before we 'turned the earth' and developed it further. The planted rock memorial was painted by our talented Karen, it came from the Manawatu River, found a home in the whare of our Facilitator and Life Member, Pip Brunn; Pip brought it to our Playcentre to be painted, where it found its new home the river land of our Playcentre, a full circle! We gifted a second rock, painted by Kevin, our fence builder, to Wiremu. Both rocks were painted with whakatauki written into it; "Kei te ora te wai, kei te ora te tangata – when the river is well, the people are well" We have now formally opened our back section, and have added it to our licensed area, wow!! We have so many exciting ideas to incorporate into our beautiful natural space, but good things take time ya know ;-) Terrace End Playcentre warmly welcome you to pop in for a visit; Monday - Friday mornings, 9:30 am - 12 pm, during the school term. Come and explore with us! Thanks to the generosity of Pub Charity we have extended our balance course with a new toddlers slide, low boxes and large slide! Pepe, and tamariki alike have loved climbing up, over and balancing along these easily accessible options. Mokopuna are building their confidence, balance and sense of control over their body, thank you Pub Charity!
Massive Thanks from all of us here at Terrace End Playcentre, to the AMAZING team at Capture signs Palmerston North. We appreciate your generosity, and the sponsorship of our brand new welcome sign. There is no mistaking who we are now!!
I am pleased to announce that through the donations and support of our community, members, and wonderful businesses around the country, and abroad, Terrace End Playcentre raised $3335.00 from our Trivia Night and Silent Auction. $2000.00 will be going towards a fence for our back section, the remanding funds will be used for resources and consumables. Please head over to our 2016 supported page and support those who have so kindly supported us this year. A big congratulations to the "QUIZLY BEARS" who took out the Trivia night with 61/80 points. Closed for Good is BNZ’s annual day of volunteering. They close their stores and most of the support offices on the day and get out into New Zealand communities to lend a hand.
In 2017 BNZ helped Terrace End Playcentre get a long list of jobs completed. Cheers BNZ! |
